Man facing heroin charges makes private appearance in court

A man has appeared in private at Lerwick Sheriff Court in connection with the seizure of heroin from a house in the town.

Steven Priest, 46, of Nederdale, stood before Sheriff Graeme Napier on Tuesday on a petition alleging a contravention of the Misuse of Drugs Act.

He made no plea or declaration and was committed for further examination before being remanded in custody.

In a separate incident in the town on Monday, a 37-year-old man was found in possession of heroin with a street value of approximately £500. A report is to be sent to the procurator fiscal.
