Young Shetlanders beat Dundee United

SHETLAND’S youngsters have had mixed fortunes in the early stages of this year’s Aberdeen International Football Festival, with the undoubted highlight so far the under 14 team’s surprise victory over Dundee United on Tuesday.

Goals from Glen Henderson and Jamie Duffy gave them a 2-1 win in a game in which they were put under intense pressure by their Dundee opponents.

It followed a 3-3 draw with Lewis United on Monday when a double from Duffy and a goal from Scott Henderson were enough to earn them a draw.

The under 16s, who are in action against Viking Stavanger on Tuesday evening, lost 2-1 to Cove Rangers in their first outing after an injury-time winner cancelled out Connor Regan’s goal for Shetland.
