THE RESULTS of the last eight games in the Tennents Trophy pool competition were: Brian Thompson beat Stephen Dobson 5-3; Chris Young beat Sandy Henry 5-2; Martin Ramsay beat Colin Irvine 5-4; Allan Johnson lost to George Fraser 5-2.

The first semi-final saw Chris Young beat Brian Thompson 5-2 while in the second match Martin Ramsay held off George Fraser, winning 5-3.

In the final they played for the best of 11 and it was a nail-biting affair between two players on top of their game.

Martin won the first set and Chris the second and it kept even, with both players having seven and eight ball clearances to go to four frames each.

Chris edged ahead for the first time with frame nine and clinched the match with another fine clearance in frame 10 to take the trophy for the second year.

A spokesman said Shetland Pool Association would like to thank Tennents for sponsoring the trophy and Norscot Angling Club and Scalloway Boating Club for hosting the event.
