Pantomime is Jack and the Beanstalk

ISLEBURGH Drama Group is now ell into rehearsals for this year’s pantomime. Producer Jennie Atkinson’s team will be performing Jack and the Beanstalk at the Garrison Theatre from 4th-13th December.

Among the old familiar faces, the cast includes a number of new people together with some who have established a solid reputation for themselves over the last couple of years. This period has seen a temporary break from musicals which has enabled a lot of people to gain acting experience as well as permitting some new directors to cut their teeth. Gratifyingly, audiences have remained healthy.

Islesburgh is also particularly lucky in having a stable core of back stage members. This continuity has led, over the years, to the building up of a vast stock of costumes as well as the ability to recycle sets and props efficiently. This is important for a strictly amateur outfit which seeks to remain financially independent.

Further productions are already on the stocks, the next one being Tom Stoppard’s modern masterpiece, Arcadia, scheduled for late March 2009.
