Silver for young star Sineath

BADMINTON player Stuart Sineath, 16, from Sandwick is a member of the Scottish under-19 badminton squad and recently represented Scotland at the UK School Games in Bristol.

Stuart won a silver medal as Scotland finished second in the team event behind England and ahead of Wales, who took the bronze, and Northern Ireland.

Stuart would like to thank the Calum Younger Reach Fund for its financial assistance in helping with travel costs to attend Scottish squad training.

Meanwhile, Shetland Badminton Association training nights in the Anderson High School games hall are off for the school holidays. They will resume on Monday 3rd November.

The games night (mixed doubles ladder this week) is on at the Scalloway games hall throughout – all players welcome.

Players are reminded that the senior one day doubles tournament is on Sunday 2nd November and entry forms are to be returned to tournament secretary by Monday 27th October.

The junior half court singles competition has been changed to Saturday 22nd November for eight, nine and 10 year junior reps. Please note the change of date. It will still be played in Scalloway from 2pm-5pm.
