Appeal for members

SERPENTINE Drama Group is looking for new members.

The group was founded in 2004 by Jacqui Clark and Anne Dickie with the aim of presenting new work by Shetland-based writers.

Although the group currently has 42 people on its books, some have recently left to go to university and the group is now in a state of flux.

Genevieve White, who shares the chairman’s position with Robert Lowes, said new members would be very welcome. Anyone interested in acting, directing and stagecraft, which involves behind the scenes work with costumes, props and scenery, is invited to get in touch.

Some of Serpentine’s most succesful productions have been A Christmas Carol in 2006 and Whar we ir in summer 2008, which toured round the country districts of Shetland.

The group has entered the drama festival for the last four years, always featuring new writing, and is working on two entries for next year. A later project for 2009 will be a production of Beauty and the Beast.

The group meets regularly in Lerwick, and anyone interested in joining can phone Genevieve on (01595) 741288.
