Kirk dedication service

A SPECIAL service which is being held at St Columba’s Church in Lerwick on Thursday at 7.15pm.

The service is being held to rededicate the church building after last year’s refurbishment.

A spokeswoman said: “We wish to extend an invitation to the churches within the isles to come along and share in this event.

“Invitations have also been extended to all church members and all those who have generously given of their time and money to allow this to happen.

“We also thought it would be an opportunity for those who have either been christened or married to revisit St Columba’s Church.”

The evening’s guest preacher will be The Very Rev. Alexander MacDonald, a former Moderator of the General Assembly of the Church of Scotland.

Mr MacDonald is no stranger to Shetland having visited on a anumber of occasions as general secretary of the Board of Ministry.
