A man accused of assaulting his wife was released on bail after appearing at Lerwick Sheriff Court on Monday.

Andrew Nicolson, 43, is accused of grabbing hold of his partner and pushing her to the ground on Saturday at their home in Gott.

He is also charged with breaching the peace by throwing items around a bedroom and unplugging the telephone from the wall as she tried to phone for help.

His case was continued without plea when he appeared from custody before Sheriff Graeme Napier on Monday.

Nicolson was bailed to an address in Trondra until his next appearance on 29th January.
