Police seeking witnesses over assault on woman

Police are appealing for witnesses to an alleged early morning assault on a 24-year-old woman which caused an area next to the Co-op supermarket in Lerwick to be cordoned off by police on Wednesday.

The incident is said to have happened between 5am and 8am  near a bus stop close to the Holmsgarth Road store.

Police are searching for two men and a woman in connection with the incident, and have released descriptions of those they would like to trace.

The men are described as both wearing red zipper tops, one with white or light trousers and dark hair with a short, trimmed beard.

He is said to be in his mid to late thirties. The other man was wearing blue jeans.

The woman is said to be in her twenties with long brown hair, was wearing glasses, a black coat and blue jeans.

Police are appealing for witnesses, and anyone with information is asked to contact the Lerwick station on (01595) 692110.
