Anglers ready for season

With the sea trout season due to start on 25th February and the brown trout season following three weeks later on 15th March, Shetland Anglers Association members are busy checking their fishing gear to ensure everything is in first class order.

The prospects for the new season will be high on the agenda when members meet at the Burns Lane clubrooms for the annual general meeting at 8pm on Tuesday.

Members will hear a report on activities last season and also plans for the new season. The development committee will also issue a detailed report on the restocking that has been undertaken.

There are also some important issues to be discussed including a ban on fishing in lochs containing cages during association competitions, the rules on recording Shetland records, changes in the annual trout festival format and the possible postponement of the hatchery project and the alternative development of a workshop/store on the site.

It is hoped that as many members as possible will make the effort to attend on Tuesday, and current committee members are reminded that a short meeting will take place at 7.30pm, prior to the main annual meeting.
