Bomb disposal team to deal with Black Gaet ordnance

Bomb disposal experts are expected in Shetland on Wednesday to deal with unexploded World War II ordnance found near the Black Gaet Road at the weekend.

The discovery by walkers led to the road being closed to traffic for around seven hours on Sunday. Those out walking have been advised to stay away from the area.

Army explosive experts will travel up on the boat with equipment to ensure the ordnance is made safe.

A bomb disposal team was in the isles last week to investigate two separate incidents. A large flare washed up at Scatness and an unexploded device was discovered on Sand beach on the West Side on Wednesday.
Both items were destroyed under controlled explosions.
