Fishing boat towed off rocks

A fishing vessel with six crew on board ran aground on rocks north of Lerwick early on Wednesday.

A call was made to the coastguard at 4.50am from the Whalsay-owned Tranquillity.

Lerwick lifeboat and the Sumburgh coastguard rescue helicopter were despatched to the site.

The vessel was not taking water and the lifeboat towed her in to Lerwick. She was alongside at Morrison dock by 7.50am. No-one was injured although there was some damage to the vessel’s propeller.
