Joiner admits failing to give breath test

Failing to provide a breath test when asked to by police earned a man an appearance at Lerwick Sheriff Court on Saturday.

Not only did Karl Tulloch, 52, refuse to give a test when required in Garthspool Road during the early hours of Saturday morning, he later failed to provide two specimens of breath for analysis at the police station.

The self-employed joiner also pleaded guilty to resisting police officers and struggling violently with them at the station.

A special court was held on Saturday to prevent a backlog of custodies clogging up the cells over the Easter break.

Honorary Sheriff Arnold Duncan deferred sentence until 6th May for background reports.

Tulloch, who has recently returned to Shetland having been on his travels overseas, had no home address.

He was released on bail on condition that he stay at his mother’s address in Dunrossness, and was banned from driving in the meantime.
