Scaldin good trip to Orkney gigs

Popular local band Scaldin Bragg took their distinctive uplifting mix of Irish, country and folk music to a new audience when they performed out of Shetland for the first time at the weekend.

They received an enthusiastic welcome in Orkney, playing a storming three-hour set, non-stop, to a very appreciative crowd at the Auld Motor Hoose in Kirkwall on Saturday night and again at the Royal Hotel in Stromness on Sunday afternoon.

A spokesman for the group said both gigs went very well. The gig on Saturday was their 50th since forming last year and was among the best nights they had played. The crowd were very responsive and seemed to be delighted with the evening’s entertainment.

The band would like to thank all those who contributed to the success of their trip, especially Ollie of the Royal Hotel for all help and generous hospitality, and also the management and staff at the Auld Motor Hoose.
