Police to be on look-out for young drinkers in Mid Yell

Police have warned they will be on the look-out for under-age drinkers ahead of a rave in the Mid Yell Hall on Saturday evening.

Sergeant Paul Daley, who is responsible for policing the event, said a number of officers will be working in and around the venue.

Together with stewarding staff, they will be checking the identification of anyone they suspect of being underage.

“First and foremost we want those attending this event to enjoy themselves fully,” he said.

“However those who are planning to attend the event who are under the legal age for consuming alcohol will be targeted by officers carrying alcohol test strips which will inform police if any drink has been mixed with alcohol.

“We would also ask parents who know their children will be attending the event to ensure that appropriate arrangements are in place to have them taken home safely afterwards.”

He said “robust action” would be taken against perpetrators of “rowdy or otherwise unacceptable behaviour” to ensure the event was not ruined by a small minority of people.
