Shetland fiddler Aly Bain and his long-time accordionist colleague Phil Cunningham are to receive honorary degrees at the University of Edinburgh on Monday.

Bain has long been considered one of the finest fiddlers in the Scottish and Shetland traditions, and Cunningham is widely regarded as one of the most exciting and innovative contemporary accordion players. As a duo they have toured since 1988 and have recorded six albums together. They will both be awarded the Honorary Degree of Doctor of Music at the McEwan Hall.
