This year is no different to any other year! No one sets out with the intention to fall asleep on a park bench, it’s just a shame that it ended the way that it did, everyone is human at the end of the day! I don’t think the Island Games is an excuse for a “piss up” as the boys attended months of intense training before even being selected for the team! They also set up and organised many Fund Raising Events to enable themselves to even compete in the Games this year. Obviously they went to Aland with the intention to win but unfortunatley were over powered by better teams on the day(s). I don’t doubt for a second they didn’t try their hardest like all the other competitors. If they decided to let their hair down and enjoy themselves after having completed all of their scheduled games, then i take my hat off to them for training hard, trying their best and enjoying the end of a memorable trip!

I agree we dee Farmer – annider excuse for a piss up at Shetland’s reputation’s expense – but congratulations to the ones who put in their all and shame on the ones who obviously couldn’t care less!

When representing Shetland…they must behave, they must set an example and they must promote Shetland in an appropriate manor…if not doing so – the don’t represent Shetland…simple !
