A man appeared in private at Lerwick Sheriff Court on Monday charged with an assault that led to his alleged victim being treated in hospital.

Alan Devine, 46, of Scalloway’s Houl Road, stood before Honorary Sheriff George Peterson faced with three charges of assault following an incident in Scalloway’s Main Street at around 1.30am on Saturday morning.

He made no plea or declaration and was released on bail with a special condition he does not approach his complainer. His case was continued for further examination.
