Former fishing skipper facing trial over alleged threats and disorder

The retired skipper of one of Shetland’s biggest fishing boats, the Altaire, appeared at Lerwick Sheriff Court charged with breach of the peace on Tuesday.

John Peter Duncan, 61, of Ollaberry, is accused of conducting himself in a disorderly manner at the Ollaberry Hall and Clickimin Leisure Centre, as well as addresses in St Olaf Street and Collafirth on 10th and 11th October.

He is charged with following his wife and entering her home uninvited, putting those present in a state of fear and alarm. He is also accused of leaving a caravan across the entrance to her home.

The accused is further charged with threatening violent behaviour over the course of a number of phone calls to his daughter and another man.

Appearing from custody, he denied the complaint and was released on bail, with special conditions. He will appear for trial on 17th December.
