Charity collection box stolen by thief in fancy dress

A man in a fancy dress costume stole a charity collection box from a Lerwick takeaway on Saturday evening.

Police are appealing for witnesses to the incident, which occurred at around 9.30pm, and are urging anyone with information to phone Lerwick police station on (01595 692110) or call the Safer Shetland Action Line on (01595) 694544.

A 29-year-old man was issued with a fixed penalty notice for anti-social behaviour early on Saturday morning. The man had been found drunk and incapable of taking care of himself in Lerwick town centre at around 1am.

A woman aged 42 was arrested for an alleged breach of the peace and assault on police in Lerwick town centre early on Sunday and is to be reported to the procurator fiscal.

In the early hours on Sunday a number of vehicles were damaged in the Robertson Crescent and Hayfield Lane area.
