Sex offender admits taking indecent photographs of girls

A man already on the sex offenders’ register who went on to commit two further offences appeared from custody at Lerwick Sheriff Court on Friday.

Bryan Georgeson, 29, of Lower Sound, Lerwick, admitted lewd, indecent and libidinous practices to two girls under 16 at Aith pier and elsewhere in Shetland between 27th April and 1st August.

The court heard that two police officers were interviewing Georgeson at his home as part of the monitoring procedure when he showed them an image on his mobile of a 15-year-old girl wearing only pants and bra. The girl had taken the photo and sent it to him, making it was clear there was a “relationship” between the two.

This started another investigation in which it emerged that the two had gone to Aith pier with another 15-year-old girl. The first girl wanted Georgeson to take a photo of her with her top raised and the other girl joined in, although both had their bras on. Georgeson also sent them both texts of a suggestive nature.

Procurator fiscal said Georgeson, who is in full-time employment, failed to demonstrate understanding of the inappropriateness of his behaviour.

Sheriff Graeme Napier deferred sentence for six weeks for reports and released Georgeson on bail with the special condition he is not alone with any female under 16.
