Man denies two assaults and brandishing wooden post

A man accused of assaulting two men and brandishing a wooden post at the weekend will stand trial at Lerwick Sheriff Court.

Gordon Comrie, 28, of Browns Buildings, denied knocking one man to the ground and repeatedly punching another on the head when he appeared from custody before Sheriff Graeme Napier on Monday.

He also pled not guilty to having the offensive weapon on him during fight on Sunday. Trial was fixed for 3rd June, with an intermediate diet on 19th May.

Comrie was released on bail, however he will have to abide by the terms of a weekend curfew which should see him remain indoors from 9pm to 7am on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays.
