Letter: A privilege to campaign

The 2010 general election is proving as historic in its aftermath as in its conduct. I hope our successfully elected MPs rise to the challenge of making the uncertain result work in the national interest.

May I through your columns thank the electorate of Orkney and Shetland for their warm and courteous response to my electioneering, together with their kindness and hospitality towards me personally.

It was a real pleasure and privilege to campaign once again in this the most special of all constituencies. I do hope it can survive as an entity when electoral reform is addressed.

Frank Nairn
Conservative candidate
