Laptop computer stolen from NHS vehicle parked at Montfield Hospital

Police investigations are under way after a laptop computer was stolen from an NHS vehicle.

The mobile skills unit bus, used for training nurses and doctors in life-saving techniques, was parked outside Montfield Hospital in Lerwick.

The computer, which is used to control training simulators, was taken between 5pm on Monday and 9am on Thursday. Police are urging anyone with information to come forward.

Health staff say the computer had no patient records saved on it. They are trying to ensure the theft does not disrupt any training taking place.

NHS Shetland director of clinical services Simon Boker-Ingram said: “We are disappointed that this theft has occurred.

“I am pleased to confirm that no patient records are stored on this laptop. However, I would hope that the laptop would be returned to us when it is realised what vital work this piece of equipment supports.”
