Liverpudlian man kept in prison after court appearance on drugs charges

A Liverpudlian man has been remanded in custody following a private appearance at Lerwick Sheriff Court on drugs charges.

Liam Senior, 26, of Albion Street in the city’s Everton area, appeared on a petition alleging a contravention of the Misuse of Drugs Act.

He was committed for further examination before being held on remand. Senior is expected to appear in court again next week.

On Tuesday police discovered “significant quantities” of heroin with a street value of £11,000 following a house search in Lerwick.

A spokesman said: “These seizures are as a result of determined action from the police to act on information provided by the public.

“The disruption of drugs misuse and supply on Shetland continues and can only progress with support and information provided by the community.”
