Three motorists admit speeding in 20mph zone outside school

Three motorists caught speeding in a 20mph zone near Sound Primary School were dealt with at Lerwick Sheriff Court this week.

Laurence Dalziel, 62, of Shurton Brae in Gulberwick, admitted driving in Sound Brae where the temporary speed limit operates at 34mph.

He was fined £400 and had five points put on his licence for the August offence.

In a separate case, Charles Smith, 48, of Punds in Lerwick, was caught on the same stretch of road at 38mph in September.

He was fined £300 and had four points placed on his licence.

Meanwhile, John Scollay, 35, of Houl Road in Scalloway, will have to make a personal appearance after admitting driving at 40mph by letter.
