Three councillors are complaining to Scotland’s finance minister John Swinney about the conduct of the Accounts Commission and what they see as its “collective defamation of our character, competence and integrity”.

Kinetics stride ahead in netball league while Hotfooters secure third division title

Kinetics moved three points clear in the first division of the netball leagues after an emphatic win last week over Wastside. Challengers were equally impressive in defeating Da McEwans in division two while in the third division Hotfooters secured the title with a close victory over Ness.

No majority against windfarm

No matter how many times Sustainable Shetland repeats it, it is not true! There is absolutely no evidence that the “vast majority in Shetland” are against the windfarm. Initially, when emotions were high and there was no Windfarm Supporters Group to challenge Sustainable Shetland, there was an upsurge in opposition.

I see that our ex-pat climate change deniers, John Coutts and John Tulloch, have recently been bombarding the local press with more of their rubbish. And in particular, they have been objecting to the label “deniers” which has been applied to them. Well, gentlemen, if you continue to deny reality, then that is exactly what you are going to be called.

Campaign to save coastguard station hots up as more condemn MCA proposals

The campaign to save Shetland’s coastguard station has already taken off, with more than 1,600 signing up to a Facebook protest page and more maritime groups and politicians joining in the condemnation of the Maritime and Coastguard Agency’s cost-cutting proposals.
