Good luck with campaign

Skerries School Parent Council would like to say a big thank you to everyone who supported the parents, pupils and people of Skerries in the successful battle to keep our secondary department open: to the councillors who saw the wider picture, and cast their votes accordingly; and to the many people who sent their congratulations in letters, phone calls, e-mails, texts, Christmas cards and messages on Facebook.

At the same time as we were celebrating our good news, though, the parent council was very sorry to hear that the SIC had chosen to vote for the closure of Scalloway Junior High School’s secondary department. Even at this late hour, we hope that the Scalloway community will succeed in their fight to keep open a department which provides an excellent education to its pupils.

We also wish good luck to everyone campaigning against closures in Burravoe, North Roe, Sandness and Uyeasound.
