Comedian Ed Byrne, star of Mock the Week and Have I Got News For You among other TV shows, is to appear in Shetland in October, it was announced today.

Byrne’s show at the Clickimin Centre follows sell-out performances by Bill Bailey and Kevin Bridges last year. Al Murray, aka “The Pub Landlord”, is to perform in Lerwick in June.

Davie Gardner, whose Atlantic Edge Music Services is promoting the gig with Inverness-based Beyond Promotions, said: “Shetland would appear to be rapidly becoming a fixture on the comedy touring circuit.”

The visit is part of the comedian’s Crowd Pleaser tour, in which he explores frustratingly maddening subjects and situations.

Davie added: “I’m delighted that someone of Ed’s profile has agreed to appear in Shetland and that Beyond Promotions in Inverness have once again delivered us a top quality night of entertainment in the islands. I’m sure Ed’s show will prove hugely popular and create plenty of laughs to brighten up a Monday night.”

A total of 1,000 tickets for the show on 24th October – which will be for over 16s only – will go on sale on Saturday 2nd April.
