Lerwick man in court after threatening staff at Tesco

Behaving in a threatening and abusive manner at Tesco supermarket on Tuesday led to an appearance from custody at Lerwick Sheriff Court today for Scott Henry, 24, of Arnheim, Lerwick.

Henry pleaded guilty to behaving in a way likely to cause a reasonable person fear and alarm, refusing to leave the supermarket and threatening staff.

However he pleaded not guilty to struggling with two police constables when they came to his house the following day. This plea was not accepted by procurator fiscal Duncan MacKenzie and Henry will now go to trial.

Sentence on the first charge was deferred until Henry’s next court appearance in August. He was released on bail with the special condition that he does not enter Tesco premises, including the car park.
