Aberdeen man in court after police seize heroin worth £5,000

A man appeared in private at Lerwick Sheriff Court today on drugs charges.

Karl Mortimer, 44, of Aberdeen, appeared on a petition alleging a contravention of the Misuse of Drugs Act. He made no plea or declaration and was released on bail.

Police arrested a man at the Holmsgarth ferry terminal on Tuesday morning in connection with the seizure of heroin worth £5,000.

A police spokesman said: “These seizures are as a result of determined action from the police to act on information provided by the public. The disruption of drugs misuse and supply on Shetland continues and can only progress with support and information provided by the community.”
