Police launch inquiries into two sudden deaths in isles

Police are making inquiries into two sudden deaths in recent days. They say the death on Friday of James Ryan, an Irishman living in Lerwick, is unexplained. Mr Ryan, who was in his early 30s, was found dead at his home in Lerwick.

Yesterday in a separate incident Amanda Lowe, 42, was found dead at an address in Hamnavoe, Burra. The circumstances are also unexplained and police said inquiries are on-going to ascertain the causes of both deaths. Post mortems are being carried out in Aberdeen and reports on both deaths have been sent to the procurator fiscal.
