Second man arrested after police find another £8,500 worth of illegal drugs in Lerwick

Police have seized a further £8,500 worth of illegal drugs from a house in Lerwick following Wednesday’s seizure of £18,000 worth of suspected cannabis in the town.

A search of a house yesterday revealed £3,500 worth of suspected herbal cannabis, and dogs from the Drugs Against Dogs charity searched a vehicle, recovering £5,000 of suspected amphetamine.

A second 45-year-old man has now been arrested and will be reported to the procurator fiscal in connection with alleged offences under the Misuse of Drugs Act.

This follows the court appearance yesterday of 45-year-old Innes Irvine in relation to Wednesday’s seizure.
