Push on to lure more film crews to Shetland

Plans are afoot to try to attract more film crews to Shetland. The council has said it will devote some time this year to improving the way the islands are presented as a potential location for shooting, with help from Creative Scotland.

Meanwhile, during the first two months of 2012 alone five new inquiries about filming in Shetland were dealt with by the council’s economic development unit, according to its marketing head Neil Henderson.

One of these saw STV filming in February for a forthcoming three-part documentary series on ponies with half of one of the half-hour programmes set to feature the islands. The results are expected to be broadcast in the summer.
