Some peace! (Evelyn Morrison)

Councillor Rick Nickerson has happily informed us on radio that he is looking forward to a long and peaceful retirement. This is from the mouth of the same man that proposed planning permission should be given to the Viking Energy project.

It is with thanks to him and his fellow Viking-supporting councillors that many of us now have no hope of a “peaceful” retirement. Our retirement will be spent living within the five to seven year construction site and subsequent windfarm.

Mr Nickerson also told us that his last act as a trustee is to put forward Viking Energy’s demand at Monday’s Shetland Charitable Trust meeting for £6.3 million because “he knows what it’s all about”. Mr Nickerson would do well to think before he opens his mouth.

Well there is arrogance and there is stupidity. Take your choice. My choice would be both. That is about as politic as I can be! I suppose at least he will soon retire, “every cloud and all that.”
