Police confirm name of man who died after falling from NorthLink ferry

Over a week after a Spanish man fell overboard from the NorthLink ferry Hjaltland and was later found dead, the police have confirmed his name.

The police said this week that the man who died on Sunday 5th August was Antonio Bernabe Ramirez, aged 64, but did not disclose any further details about his background.

A spokesman said: “There are no suspicious circumstances and, as with all sudden deaths, a report will be sent to the procurator fiscal.”
