Town pair through to final of County Shield

Spurs and Celtic will meet in the final of senior football’s County Shield competition after both recorded fairly convincing semi-final wins last night.

Spurs defeated Whitedale 4-0 at Strom Park with goals came from Paul Molloy, Connell Gresham, James Johnston and Sam Maver.

Celtic had a 3-0 victory over Thistle at Seafield with James Aitken, Connor Regan and an own goal gett the hoops through. Calvin Leask hit the post with a penalty for Thistle.

Meanwhile Celtic put a huge dent in Spurs’ title aspirations with a 3-1 win on Friday evening. Ryan Stewart, Robert Smith and Neil Fenwick scored for the hoops with an own goal counting for the milkbags.

Whitedale kept their challenge well on track with a 5-1 demolition of Delting. Richard Sinclair and Piotr Drozdowski both got doubles and Jamie Wilson weighed in for the West Siders with Leighton Flawsreplying  for Delting.

Whalsay retained hopes of retaining the title with a nominal 2-0 home win after Thistle failed to muster a side.
