Islesburgh hostel keeps its five stars

Islesburgh House Hostel has comfortably retained its five-star status following a recent VisitScotland inspection.

The inspector was particularly impressed with the external condition of the buildings and grounds, and the high standard of internal cleanliness – scoring both at 100 per cent.

Team leader Dale Smith said: “This is great news and confirms the high standards we consistently seek to maintain and deliver.

“A huge congratulations goes to all staff for the excellent level of service they provide, which – all wrapped up in a beautiful building – also saw us become best hostel in the world last year.”

In 2010 the Islesburgh hostel was named as best in Europe, rated 96 per cent overall by Hostelling International guests, while last year it went one better, being named as best in the world from over 4,000 hostels in 90 countries and rated 97 per cent overall.

I stayed several times in the hostel this year and found the accommodation very clean and comfortable with every domestic amenity you could possibly want available. The staff were friendly and happy to help too. Excellent!
So congratulations Isleburgh, your FIVE STAR status is well deserved!
