Not a light in sight (Lynne Arcus)
I strongly agree with Sheila Newcombe (Shetland Times , 21st December) about the snub to Norway and the loss of the trees at the Market cross and Freefield. It’s just not Christmas/New Year without the tree at the Cross and as far as “Oot Ower”, not a tree or light in sight.
Please can we have the trees back at the Cross and Freefield in future?
Also, what will happen to the trees surrounding and sheltering the campsite? I don’t understand why it took nearly 30 years to decided to build the new high school at Clickimin and yet it only seems to have taken a few months to move it and build on the campsite which is in the perfect place with facilities on site and supermarkets to the north and south. It is also handy for people attending concerts/festivals at Clickimin Centre.
What about the helicopters landing sometimes two or three times ad day/week. I can’t imaging the pupils being able to concentrate with all the noise etc. What about the health and safety aspect?

In da isles and other rural area’s, we have ta fund and organise Xmas trees, and da like, ourselves! People in da Toon just seem ta expect the council ta pay and organise everything for them…
