Driver accused of being twice limit

A man has appeared from custody at Lerwick Sheriff Court accused of trying to drive his car while more than twice the legal alcohol limit.

Mario Pohlmann, 37, of King Edward Street, Alexandria in West Dumbartonshire, is charged with attempting to drive his car with 73 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 mililitres of breath. The legal limit is 35 microgrammes.

The offence is alleged to have taken place in the Tesco car park in Lerwick on Sunday.

The case before sheriff Philip Mann was continued without plea until 24th January.

Pohlmann was released on bail, but warned he must not get back behind the wheel in the meantime.
