Jail for man who sold cannabis to friends

A man who supplied drugs to a close circle of friends has been jailed for 12 months.

Ross Lowe, 24, of Aberdeen’s North Deeside Road was handed the prison sentence at Lerwick Sheriff Court.

He admitted supplying cannabis resin from his former home at the town’s Bruce Crescent between 7th March 2011 and 31st January last year. Sentence had been deferred for background reports.

Defence agent Liam McAllister said Lowe had turned his life around, and was working full time in a kitchen in Aberdeen, with an ambition to become a fully-qualified chef.

He urged the court to impose a community-based disposal.

However sheriff Philip Mann said part of the sentencing process was to send out a message that people who became involved in the supply of drugs could expect a custodial sentence.
