Sporting, cultural and environmental groups surveyed on ferry experiences

People travelling with community groups on ferries to the Scottish mainland and Orkney are being asked to respond to an online survey.

The survey, by Shetland Islands Council and the transport partnership ZetTrans, will offer passengers travelling with Serco NorthLink a chance to provide feedback on the cost of travel and accommodation choices for groups such as sports clubs and school groups.

Representatives from any group who have travelled since 1st January this year, or have booking to travel within the next six months, are invited to respond.

The survey also provides an opportunity for any groups who have chosen not to travel with Serco NorthLink to offer their feedback.

SIC environment and transport committee chairman Allan Wishart said: “We know how important these lifeline services are for a range of sectors in Shetland, and that includes providing opportunities for sporting, cultural and educational groups.

“We would like to hear comments on the new ferry provision for community groups by Serco NorthLink since the start of 2013. I’d urge clubs, schools and youth organisations to give us their views.”

• The survey is open until noon on 15th July.
