The Prospect’s not raised yet

Efforts to raise the fishing boat Prospect, which sank at the north end of Lerwick Harbour a week ago, have been postponed.

Divers attached flotation bags to the vessel, and righted her on the seabed over the weekend. Her starboard side was seen to be in good condition.

It was hoped that the boat could be partially refloated and towed to shore this afternoon, but according to Lerwick Port Authority, “further work will be required prior to the operation being at a stage where the vessel can be stabilised and made ready for a tow”.

If this work can be completed in time, another attempt to lift the Prospect could be made during tomorrow afternoon’s slack tide.
