Mixed weather doesn’t deter Cunningsburgh Show fans

The crowds were out in force today, for the 69th annual Cunningsburgh Show.

While the blue skies of early morning had faded to grey and even the odd spit of rain by afternoon, that certainly didn’t dampen the atmosphere.

There were queues for food and ice cream, impressive displays of vegetables, knitwear and other goods, and some very happy children playing on the bouncy castle and slide.

According to the show society president Kenneth MacKenzie, this year’s show had brought out a “good crowd”

“I think wir gate cash should be well up” he said. “The weather’s a peerie bit mixed today, but judging by not being able to see down the park fir fok I’d say it’s been a pretty good day so far.”

While there were fewer entries of kye this year, there were more hens and dogs, and some “very healthy competition” in the baking section, judged by James Morton.

Excellent show, big well done to the organisers and participants; the herring butties were especially good.
