, by , in News

Fire swept through a garage in Cullivoe this morning destroying the 20 metre building.

Crews from Yell found the domestic garage well alight after receiving the call shortly after 9.15am. Firefighters from Baltasound caught the ferry across from Unst and helped deal with the incident.

The crews used two hose-reel jets and two breathing apparatus sets in their efforts to put the blaze out.

The fire was declared extinguished at 10.13am, although fire fighters expected to be damping down for a further hour thereafter.

No-one was injured as a result of the fire.
