The Cullivoe and Bressay Up-Helly-A’s are both being celebrated today with the weather so far being excellent for the festivals.

David Spence is Guizer Jarl in Cullivoe, portraying Viking warlord Thorstein Olafsson, while Lyall Tulloch is leading the Bressay festival.

Both Jarl’s Squads will be carrying out visitations around their isles before the galley burning and the evening celebrations in the Bressay and Cullivoe halls respectively.

Photos and stories from both events will be carried in next week’s Shetland Times.
