Shetland hockey team miss out on final

The Shetland hockey team have missed out on a place in the Scottish District Cup final after suffering defeat to Erskine Stewart’s Melville 2 today.

Joint coach Jill Hibbert said “the lasses played their hearts out” in the semi-final tie at Aberdeen Sports Village.

The girls went one-nil up on 20 minutes with a goal from Kristan Robertson, before conceding two goals.

Hibbert and coach Peter Sharp were proud of their efforts although Hibbert said it was disappointing not to make the final.

“Everybody played really well,” she added.
