Wool Week hat pattern launched

Knitters can keep busy working on a new Fair Isle hat design launched this week to coincide with preparations for the fifth Shetland Wool Week.

The “Shwook” pattern has been designed by patron Hazel Tindall in a choice of colours from festival partners Jamieson and Smith Ltd, Shetland Organics and Jamieson’s Spinning Mill. Full colour instructions and charts are included in a free download.

Emma Miller from the Wool Week co-ordinating committee said: “This will be a great way for visitors and Shetlanders to show their support for Shetland Wool Week, and identify other ‘Wool Weekers’ while they are here. Since the hat has been designed exclusively for us by Hazel, it’s a really special thing and a great way to give something back to the folk who are so enthusiastic about Shetland wool and the festival overall.”

The pattern, which has been designed in a range of sizes and colours, is available to download free from the Shetland Wool Week website.

All those attending the 2014 festival in October are encouraged to download, knit and wear their hats to the event.
