CLAN centre extends its opening hours

Cancer support charity CLAN has increased its opening hours in Shetland in response to an increase in requests from the public.

CLAN already provides a range of information services and free complementary therapies, including reflexology and reiki, from its centre at the corner of Commercial Street and St Magnus Street in Lerwick.

These hours have now been extended. The centre, which has two therapists, will now be open on Mondays and Fridays, 10am to 4pm, and Thursdays and Saturdays from 10am to 1pm.

CLAN services manager Lucy Whiteman said: “We’re delighted to be able to increase our provision within Shetland and it really does reinforce our commitment to providing free cancer support services in the heart of the community, to as many people as we can.

“Our range of free services is open to anyone who has been affected by a cancer diagnosis and we really would encourage those who would like to find out more about what it is CLAN can do to drop in or call us – you will be made very welcome.”

As well as the drop-in centre, the charity also holds two support groups; one in Brae on the third Sunday of every month and one in Ness Boating Club on the first Sunday of every month.

These groups offer information and support to anyone living with cancer as well as to their family members, carers and close friends. Complementary therapies are only offered in Lerwick.
