‘Nuisance caller’ locked up

A teenager has been remanded in custody after being charged with repeatedly making nuisance 999 calls.

Nathan Hilditch, 19, of Virkie’s Horseshoe Close appeared from custody at Lerwick Sheriff Court.

He is accused of persistently calling the emergency phone-line without good reason.

The offences are alleged to have taken place between 18th May and yesterday’s date.

Hilditch is also charged with attempting to steal two vehicles on 26th May, as well as assaulting a policeman and repeatedly throwing punches at him.

His case before honorary sheriff Eric Peterson was continued without plea until 10th June.

An application for bail was refused.
